Monte Carlo Simulation of Creep Deformation of Amorphous Materials

A system of shear transformation zones which are the units responsible for plastic deformation of amorphous solids is evolved using a kinetic Monte Carlo Algorithm. The simulation provides information about shear banding behavior being the reason for failure and, since a time scale is introduced by the kinetic Monte Carlo Method, is able to capture time-dependent creep with its dependencies on temperature and load.
